Blumberg, Whitlock, Thirlby Join Atlantic's 'Farragut North' (Playbill)
The play about political personalities will appear at ATC's Linda Gross Main Stage Oct. 22-Nov. 29.
According to ATC, "Stephen is a wunderkind press secretary who has built a career that men twice his age would envy. During a tight presidential primary race, however, Stephen's meteoric rise falls prey to the backroom politics of more seasoned operatives, and his one night stand with a teenage staffer proves to be more complicated than casual."
It's billed as "a classic tale of hubris set against a contemporary landscape - about the lust for power and the costs one will endure to achieve it."
Farragut North takes its name from the Washington, DC subway station that is situated near K Street, where several lobbyists work. Playwright-screenwriter Willimon worked for Howard Dean during his 2004 presidential run. That experience informs the play.
Gallagher played a trouble suburban kid in Rabbit Hole for Manhattan Theatre Club before becoming a genuine star as the troubled Moritz in the musical Spring Awakening, produced by ATC before moving to Broadway. He won a Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
The Linda Gross Theater is located on West 20th Street.
