Polanski documentary coming to theaters in July (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Indie studio ThinkFilm haspicked up "Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired," a documentarythat generated early sales buzz at the Sundance Film Festivalin January,

The distributor acquired U.S. theatrical and home videorights from HBO, which will air it June 9. A New Yorktheatrical opening on July 11 will be followed by a summerplatform rollout and late fall DVD release. The film had alow-profile Oscar-qualifying run in March.

Director Marina Zenovich's look at the director's statutoryrape trial and subsequent fleeing of the U.S. prompted bothacclaim and criticism for its nonjudgmental approach to thesubject.

ThinkFilm president Mark Urman worked as Polanski'spublicist from 1991-97 and was filmed by Zenovich for thedocumentary. Although he didn't make the final cut, it helpedprovide the inside track in the acquisition, which was sealedTuesday after HBO finalized its initial Sundance U.S. deal.
