Kanye West won't face felony counts over airport scuffle (AFP)

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West will not face serious charges over a scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles Airport whose camera equipment was damaged, prosecutors said Friday.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said it would not file felony counts against West over the September 11 incident.

Instead the case file has been forwarded to the city attorney's office, which could bring lesser misdemeanor charges against the musician.

West and a bodyguard were arrested following the incident, which occurred when a paparazzi tried to photograph him.

Entertainment news website said West rushed a photographer, grabbing his camera and smashing it on the ground.

West, 31, has won nine Grammy awards and raked in 21 million dollars on sales of his three albums, "The college dropout" (2004), "Late registration" (2005) and "Graduation" (2007).
