CBS and "Young and the Restless" lead Emmy nominees (Reuters)
CBS netted 56 nominations, collecting 17 for "Restless,"which was among the contenders for best daytime drama. PBSreceived 50 nominations, including 13 for "Sesame Street." Twoother programs, "Guiding Light" and "One Life to Live," alsoreceived 13 nods, while "As the World Turns" received 12.
The Daytime Emmys will be awarded June 20 during a ceremonyat the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. ABC, which received 39nominations, will broadcast.
ABC's chatfest "The View" picked up seven nominations,including best talk show/entertainment. "The Ellen DeGeneresShow," with eight nominations, has won that category every yearsince 2004.
But this year's split of the talk show category into twoawards could shake things up. "Ellen," "Rachael Ray" and "View"are vying in talk show/entertainment category; talkshow/informative nominees are for PBS' "A Place of Our Own";"Dr. Phil" and "The Tyra Banks Show."
One talk show host guaranteed to walk away with an award isRegis Philbin, who will be honored with a lifetime achievementaward. Philbin and his co-host, Kelly Ripa, were nominated asoutstanding talk show hosts as well as Ellen DeGeneres and theco-hosts of "The View."
Competing alongside "Restless" for best daytime drama areABC's "General Hospital," CBS' "Guiding Light," and ABC's "OneLife to Live."
