Terminator movie tops UK chart

Terminator Salvation has blasted its way to the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart, grossing nearly £7m in its first three days.

The fourth film in the futuristic franchise took £6.94m, nearly three times its nearest rival Night At The Museum 2.

The movie stars Christian Bale as John Connor, the leader of the resistance against an army of killing machines.

Horror film Drag Me To Hell fell one place to number three.

Tom Hanks film Angels and Demons and Star Trek fell to fourth and fifth places respectively, bringing the sci-fi reboot's total takings to £19.5m after five weeks.

The only other new entry on the chart was romantic drama Last Chance Harvey starring Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman, which landed at six.

There was not much change in the rest of the top 10, with films shuffling down to accommodate the two new entries.
