Goody's widower jailed for attack

Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed has been jailed for 12 weeks for assaulting a taxi driver.

Tweed, whose reality TV star wife recently died from cancer, was found guilty last month of attacking Stephen Wilkins in Epping, Essex, in May 2008.

The 21-year-old, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, had denied the offence.

He appeared at Harlow Magistrates' Court for sentencing. During the hearing his lawyer said Tweed had matured since the offence.

The conviction was the second time in six months that Tweed had been found guilty of assault.

In September, he was given an 18-month jail sentence by a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court after being found guilty of hitting a 16-year-old boy with a golf club.

Tweed also denied that assault.

He was released from prison on licence in January, having to wear a monitoring tag and observe a curfew.

The curfew was relaxed to allow him to spend his wedding night with mother-of-two Ms Goody in February after a ceremony in Hatfield Heath, Essex.

The former Big Brother contestant, 27, died two months later following a well-publicised battle with cancer.

She was buried on 4 April.
